Menus Island of Winds
Island of Winds – UI/UX Design
Role: UI/UX Design and Visual Design
When designing the menus for Island of Winds, my goal was to create a user interface that was both clear and intuitive, while also feeling like a natural part of the game's world.
The game is set in 17th-century Iceland and explores themes closely connected to women's lives and experiences. I was particularly inspired by traditional Icelandic embroidery and wanted to incorporate elements of this craft into the visual design of the menus. This allowed me to bring a piece of Icelandic cultural heritage into a digital experience, connecting traditional craftsmanship with contemporary game design.
Throughout the design process, I focused on finding the right balance between functionality and aesthetics, simplifying complex interfaces, and developing solutions in close collaboration with the programmers. One of the most rewarding parts was seeing my designs come to life in Unreal Engine, testing them in the game, and continuously refining and improving them.
This project brings together many of the things I enjoy most about design: creative problem-solving, visual storytelling, collaboration, and the process of making something better through iteration.
